ProductDescription : Great for beginners - similar to Silk Hankies but easier to work with. Silk caps are silk fibers which have been hand-worked to obtain very thin layers. It’s created by piercing a hole in a silkworm’s cocoon, pulling it from the hole and then stretching the cocoon over a frame. This creates a cap shaped web of delicate but strong pieces of tissue-thin soft silk fibers. The final product is made up of multiple cap-shaped pieces of cocoons stacked together into a pile.
These silk caps are easy to dye, using acid or protein dyes, perfect for a wide range of crafting projects – nuno and wet felting, silk paper making, hand-painting, can be spun on a spindle or wheel, pulled into a thread and knitted up as is – possibilities are endless.
