ProductDescription : This welding blanket. It can withstand hot metal slag, so hot stoves should be fine. This thing will do exactly what you need it to do! After using the stovetop (which was on medium-high for at least 20 minutes or so), I turned it off, took the pot off, and put the welding blanket on the stovetop. After handling the pot, I measured the temperature of the stove. The burner temperature was 397°, but the temperature on top of the blanket was only 88°. The blanket didn't have any effect when it was placed in the stove, so it held up well to the temperature. So, I didn't use it for soldering, but for heat protection in a hot stove, it worked great.
