Specification BatteriesIncluded : 1 BatteriesRequired : 1 Brand : ILOPM BulletPoint1 : Surface Roughness Specimens: This set of Surface Roughness Specimens is for inspecting, identifying and determining the roughness of machine parts; featuring 30 different specimens for surface grinding, reaming, grinding, turning, horizontal and vertical milling. BulletPoint2 : Size: Surface roughness specimens have AA grade values displayed in micro inches and microns with an accuracy within ±12% of nominal; all 30 specimens are made of electroformed solid nickel and measure 0.05 x 12.5mm. BulletPoint3 : Easy Comparison: each type of surface finish is accurately and consistently reproduced, giving the operator a realistic idea of the feel, appearance and texture of the machined part; comparisons can be made with a magnifying glass or using a scratch test. BulletPoint4 : Cost-Saving Inspection: eliminates the need for expensive inspection methods, saving time and reducing scrap due to poor surface quality. BulletPoint5 : Set Includes: Roughness Specimen Kit includes a vinyl wallet and instructions. They are used as a reference for calibrating measuring devices used in machine shops, such as micrometers, sine bars, calipers and micrometers (when used for inspection). Gauge blocks are the main means of standardising lengths used in industry.

Tips when you use them: To use them, the blocks are removed from the set, cleaned of their protective coating (petroleum jelly or oil) and screwed together to form a stack of the desired size. The blocks are calibrated accurately at 20 °C (68 °F) and should be kept at this temperature when measuring. This mitigates the effects of thermal expansion. Wear-resistant blocks, made of a harder substance such as tungsten carbide, are mounted at the ends of the stack wherever possible to protect the gauge block from damage during use.
