ProductDescription : Macondo Ancient Pot Chamba - Saute Pan With Lid ( 2 pieces). Beautiful handcrafted pieces, matte black in color, handmade by a Colombian indigenous community for more than three hundred years. The artisans have found in ceramics a way to make their culture, traditions and history known to the world through the use of multiple production techniques, creativity and the talent of their tribe, creating valuable handcrafted pieces with a unique seal of tradition and originality. These items are safe for cooking because they do not contain toxins or lead due to their natural origin. These pieces provide even cooking with little supervision, maintain the heat of the food which means less use of oils during cooking, making meals healthier. In addition, flavors blend perfectly while preserving nutrients. The result is a nutritious and delicious meal... Excellent works of art loaded with history and cultural value. The manufacturing process begins when the clay is extracted from mines and deposits in La Chamba, Tolima or the municipality of Suarez, Colombia, then the pieces are elaborated under the modeling technique which consists of a totally manual technique with the minimum use of tools. Finally, the pieces are baked in clay ovens at temperatures between 700c and 750c for two or three hours, thus obtaining its matte black color. By buying this product, you are helping the tribe to preserve their traditions. One of our goals at MACONDO is to help artisans and communities reach the world with valuable and unique pieces to share and preserve Colombian traditions and history.
