The dashed one inch markings increase visibility - which improves accuracy. The ruler highlights the 1/8in markings which are hard to use on traditional rulers. The black and white dashed 1/8in markings show on both light and dark fabrics and ensure accuracy when cutting pieces for miniature quilts. Refer to the black diamonds when cutting 1/8" units; the white diamonds when cutting 1/4in units.
