It mechanical properties are a little weaker than other engineering polymers, but it is very heat stable and has a useful range from -400°F to +500°F (-240°C to +260°C). It maintains high strength, toughness and self-lubrication at low temperatures and can be used to make parts for cryogenic applications. It has a very low coefficient of friction and therefore often is used in sliders, hinges and bearings. PTFE is a chemically very stable material and therefore is used in chemical vessels, reactors and for machine parts exposed to chemicals. It has very good non-stick properties and is an excellent electrical insulator. This round rod stock is ideal for turning or machining parts. This PTFE rod is 0.78 inch (20mm) in diameter and therefore ideal if you want to make true 3/4" parts or threads. It is 1 ft (30.5 cm) long. 0.5 ft, 2 ft and 3 ft versions are available in our other listings. ProductSiteLaunchDate : 2019-04-02T07:00:00.000Z
