The Palm Abbe wine refractometer is fast, convenient, and easy to use. Simply place a few drops of juice from the grape, or grape must, into the stainless-steel well and press a button. The custom-designed microprocessor delivers a nearly instantaneous readout. Nonlinear temperature compensation is automatic and insures that fluids read between 0 and 50 °C (+32 to 122 °F) are measured accurately.
The large dual-line LCD display is easily read, even in dim light, and removes the subjectivity associated with interpreting where a boundary line crosses tiny scale divisions. And, it is so easy to use! The user interface consists of two buttons, one to take readings and the other to step through various menu options.
Special models are available with additional scales including: Refractive Index, Specific Gravity @ 20 °C. Specific Gravity @ 17.5 °C, Density (kg/L), Plato, Oechsle, Klosterneuburger Mostwaage (KMW), and the actual Sugar Content in grams per liter or in grams per kilogram. Scales are also available for measuring the Potential Alcohol of grape must and Actual Alcohol percent by volume of finished wine via distillation.
Scale 1 Fluid: Wine; Unit of Measure: Baume; Range: 0 to 16; Resolution: 0.1; Precision: +/-0.1
Scale 2 Fluid: Wine - (Must Sugar Content); Unit of Measure: g/L; Range: 0 to 308; Resolution: 1; Precision: +/-1
