Directions : Site Preparation and Dressing Application 1. If necessary cleanse the wound area according to appropriate wound care protocols. Dry the area surrounding the wound thoroughly before dressing application. 2. Select a size of ActivHeal® Silicone Wound Contact Layer dressing making sure the dressing size is slightly larger than the wound. If necessary, the dressing can be cut (using sterile scissors) to the required size, ensuring that the dressing is slightly larger than the wound. 3. The dressing size should extend well beyond the open wound (at least 2cm) in all directions. 4. Remove one release liner from the wound dressing. 5. Centre the dressing on the wound and apply it gently to the wound sire. Press the dressing on the surrounding skin by gentle application of pressure. Then remove the second release liner and apply a secondary dressing that is appropriate for the exudate level according to its instructions for use. 6. If more than one piece of ActivHeal® Silicone Wound Contact Layer dressing is required, ensure that the dressing overlap (to avoid secondary dressing adherence to the wound) 7. Discard any remaining dressing material, according to local procedures and guidelines, due to the risk of contamination. Dressing Change and Removal 1. Observe the wound and/or secondary dressing frequently and change either dressing whenever good wound care practice dictates. ActivHeal® Silicone Wound Contact Layer dressing can remain in situ for up to 14 days, dependent on patient condition and the level of exudate. 2. Gently remove ActivHeal® Silicone Wound Contact Layer dressing from the wound bed by peeling off from a corner using gentle pressure and dispose of according to local procedures and guidelines. 3. If required, cleanse the wound site with a suitable wound cleanser prior to application of a new dressing.
