The shape of the diatom must be tubular with holes on the walls. It must be fresh water because the diatoms form a harder shell and is less fragile than those in salt water. Out of 600 deposits in the US only 4 are considered "food grade". Actually, de is not an earth. It is the fossilized remains of microscopic shells created by one celled plants called diatoms. We package in this 100% USA Manufactured, high density polyethylene and injection molded 5 gallon specialty latch bucket with fully secured, air tight, screw-top white lid. Children-resistant and friendly to seniors. Approved to UN and DOT-35 codes for plastic screw-top pails. Reusable plastic pail with a durable riveted plastic handle, reusable, resealable plastic lid.
