Product Description:

This Oxygen Sensor Socket is made from heavy-duty Chrome Vanadium Steel (CR-V) for enhanced durability and strength. It is designed to fit all 22mm (7/8 in) hex oxygen sensors and features a 1/2 in drive, making it compatible with most ratchets and torque wrenches. The side wire cutout ensures that the sensor wires remain undamaged during removal and installation. Whether you're a professional mechanic or a DIY car owner, this tool makes sensor replacement quick and hassle-free.

How to Use:

Step 1: Preparation

  • Ensure the vehicle is completely cooled down to avoid burns from the exhaust system.
  • Disconnect the oxygen sensor’s electrical connector to prevent wire damage.
  • If the sensor has been installed for a long time, apply penetrating oil to the sensor threads to loosen it.

Step 2: Position the Oxygen Sensor Socket

  • Attach a suitable 1/2 in drive ratchet or torque wrench to the socket.
  • Align the Oxygen Sensor Socket with the hexagonal nut (22mm/7/8 in) of the sensor and ensure a secure fit.
  • The side cutout allows the sensor wire to pass through freely without damage.

Step 3: Removing the Oxygen Sensor

  • Turn counterclockwise to gradually loosen the sensor.
  • If the sensor is too tight, use an extension bar or allow more time for the penetrating oil to work before trying again.
  • Once removed, inspect the sensor for cleaning or replacement.

Step 4: Installing a New Oxygen Sensor

  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize lubricant to the new sensor threads to prevent future seizing.
  • Thread the new sensor into the exhaust system and tighten clockwise using the Oxygen Sensor Socket. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended torque specifications.
  • Reconnect the sensor wiring harness securely.

Step 5: Testing

  • Start the engine and check if the “Check Engine” light is still on.
  • If the warning light persists, use an OBD2 scanner to verify the sensor installation and reset the codes.
