Tailor's Clapper is an essential tool for sewing and ironing. Flattening your fabric's seams and creases is important when sewing or quilting. Hoku Global Tailors Clapper will leave your seams, pleats, hems, creases crisp without damaging or burning delicate fabrics.

Our tailor's clapper is made with very durable and premium solid close-grained beech hardwood for maximum steam absorption. While pressing the fibers into a new shape, the heat of the iron will be absorbed slowly by the wood so it stays in the fabric long enough to flatten the seams nicely. It simply directs the heat and steam precisely where it is needed, providing the right combination of temperature, moisture and pressure to “set” the shape.

How to Use

First, iron your seam briefly to add heat and steam. You can also spray or mist the seam before ironing to get a nice steamy press.

As you take the iron off, immediately lay the clapper down on top of the seam for about 5 seconds (the act of placing it may produce a “clap” sound, hence the name - Tailor's Clapper)

The wood absorbs the steam and holds the heat into the seam as it cools, leaving the seam flatter and neater.
