Each character in the Angela Tripi crib is characterised by a strong attention to detail. Tripi takes inspiration from the ancient Arab world for the creation of its figures and, appropriately reworking history and customs, comes to its own personal interpretation of the characters of the time. While the terracotta statues of the traditional nativity scene (e.g. Neapolitan ones) are built from a tow skeleton covered with clothes to which the terracotta ends are applied, Angela Tripi statues have a fully formed body. In fact, they are modeled nude and, subsequently, painted and dressed with fabrics and small jewelry, details capable of giving the statue a stunning realism. The artist manages to give his creations personality, charisma and charm: often clearly emerge wrinkles, grimaces, tense muscles, etc. In addition, it must be added that while a traditional statue, through the static nature of a gesture resembles a craft or a character, admiring these works you realize that there is a story behind those faces and those looks, a life with a before and after.
