Our hardware encryption beats software encryption in that you need not be concerned about Trojans/viruses, installing software, or remembering long complicated PIN/password,This results in the decrease in the total cost of ownership. Since CipherShield encrypts data independently of the operating system; removing the drive and connecting it directly to the SATA BUS will not defeat the encryption. The unit is bundled with two keys and registration is required for key duplication.
