(2) Use, maintenance and precautions:
1. The glassy carbon disc working electrode is referred to as glassy carbon electrode. Glassy carbon electrodes are polished to a mirror luster at the factory before leaving the factory. So please pay attention to keep the surface clean while holding it.
2. The electrode is covered with a rubber cap to protect the surface during transportation. When the electrode is not in use and needs to be stored, please cover it with a rubber cap.
3. Because the rubber and plastic cap contains sulfur, it will react with the metal surface. Therefore, please re-polished the electrode surface before use. Polishing the electrode surface before each experiment is the most effective way to keep it fresh.
4. The electrode tube exhibits chemical inertness. PEEK material can withstand temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius.
5. Glassy carbon cannot be welded and requires the use of special materials for welding, which is relatively fragile. Do not use ultrasonic cleaning of glassy carbon electrodes to avoid damaging the connections. If ultrasonic cleaning is required, please shorten the time as much as possible.
6. If the voltage is positive, the glassy carbon electrode will be oxidized, and the oxidation voltage mainly depends on the pH value.
Can cause permanent damage to the glassy carbon electrode, so choose the potential range carefully.
