Today, local Church members feel great joy in attending this magnificent house of worship. The Payson Temple is the 146th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the 15th temple in Utah. The manicured grounds of the Payson Utah Temple are highlighted by a lovely water feature and scenic views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. Standing with 96,630 square feet, it is one of the largest temples to be constructed in recent history. Its contemporary design was inspired by elements of classical architecture, and it features breathtaking art glass by artist Tom Holdman of Lehi, Utah, who has contributed to numerous other temples of the Church. Rooms within the temple’s interior include a baptistry; instruction rooms; sealing rooms, where marriages are solemnized; and a celestial room, which represents the glory of eternal life with God. Mormons attend the temple to participate in the highest sacraments of their faith and to seek communion with God. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Payson Utah Temple was held on October 8, 2011, with services conducted by Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Before the temple’s dedication, an open house took place from April 24 through May 23, 2015. More than 400,000 guests of all faiths and walks of life toured the temple’s interior and grounds during this time. The Payson Utah Temple was dedicated on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
