ProductDescription : Albumin is the most abundant plasma protein in humans. Albumin plays many important bodily roles, including maintenance of osmotic pressure and binding of key body substances. Serum albumin is a reliable indicator for liver disease, nephritic syndrome, malnutrition, protein-loss enteropathies, morbidity, and mortality. Elevated levels of serum albumin are associated with dehydration. Detection of albumin in urine is crucial for diagnosis of patients with albuminuria.

BioAssay Systems’ QuantiQuik Albumin Test Strips are based on the immobilization of an albumin sensitive chromagen onto a pad. Albumin reacts with the chromagen to form a colored product. The intensity of the color is proportional to the albumin concentration in the sample. The QuantiQuik Albumin Test strips are a rapid and inexpensive method for semi-quantitative determination of albumin that does not require sophisticated laboratory instruments.

Q: How should I store these strips?
A: The strips can be stored at room temperature and kept away from heat/moisture. They have a 6 month shelf life, and should be used within a week of opening.

Q: My sample turns very dark blue, how can I determine the albumin concentration?

A: The albumin is too high for the strip to detect. Dilute your sample in water and re-run the test with another strip.
