ProductDescription : Want soft, easy to spread butter without waiting for butter to soften from the fridge? JBK Pottery has your solution with our professional-grade ceramic French butter crock. The idea of buttter keepers has been in use for hundreds of years! Simply fill the top portion of the bell lid with softened butter (ours holds just over 1 stick of butter) and add cold water to the base of the crock (approx. 1/2 cup is recommended). When you replace the lid, the water helps create an airtight seal, which ensures your butter can remain at room temperature without spoilage or odors for up to 1 month. You're then able to enjoy soft, spreadable butter whenever you need it! TIPS: Change the water in the base every 2-3 days. Keep the butter crock away from natural sources of heat, such as the back of the fridge, stovetop and in direct sunlight. Without air conditioning in warmer climates, we find that the butter will begin to soften too much and fall into the water in the base. Pull out a stick of butter from the fridge and wait for it to soften. Use a knife press butter in tightly to the top of the butter crock. We often use the wrapper on the stick of butter to press the butter into the top portion and then use a knife to finish pressing any excess air out. Enjoy!
