Ball Screw Maintenance:
A ball screw must be properly lubricated and kept clean at all times. Before you apply any lubrication, whether you choose grease or oil, make sure the ball screw is thoroughly clean and dry. We recommend lubricating ball screws with a normal workload every six months and ball screws with a heavy workload every three months. The specific type of lubrication for a Ball Screw depends on various factors.
- Light loads and high speeds do well with a machine oil or low viscosity grease.
- Medium loads and speeds do well with NLGI 1 or 2 grease
- High loads may require a grease with an EP2 additive.
