The 74HC4051 is a high speed CMOS device with a 74HC4051 pin compatible low power Schottky TTL (LSTTL) family 74HC4051 that complies with JEDEC standard no.7A. The 74HC4051 is an 8-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer with 3 digital selects (S0 to S2), 1 low active enable (E), and 8 independent inputs/outputs (Y0 to Y7) ) and 1 common input / output (Z).


When E is low, one of the 8 switches will be selected by S0 to S2 (low resistance state). When E is high, all switches enter the high impedance state, directly ignoring S0 to S2. VCC and GND are the supply pins for the digital control terminals (S0 to S2, E). The VCC to GND range of the 74HC4051 is 2.0V to 10.0 V.


Analog input/output of 74HC4051 (Y0 to Y7, Z swings between upper limit VCC and lower limit VEE, VCC-VEE should not exceed 10.0V. As a digital multiplexer/demultiplexer, VEE will be connected to On GND (generally grounded).
